Monday's Pick!!

The Sudoku Murder: a Katie McDonald Mystery by Shelley Freydont. I love mysteries and this book doesn’t disappoint. I found this one hard to put down and my interest was held from beginning to end. I pulled this off the shelf because I like to do Sudoku puzzles, so the title intrigued me. I found that the author has written another mystery series with dancer Linda Haggerty, but this title is the first book in a new series introducing character Katie McDonald. Katie is a government think tank mathematician who returns home to Granville, New Hampshire after receiving a letter from her mentor and puzzle enthusiast P.T. Avondale. He is the curator of the Avondale Puzzle Museum and with the museum in financial trouble and with an outlet mall looking to move into town he looks to Katie for help. Not long after returning to Granville however P.T. is found murdered and Katie is police chief Brandon Mitchell’s first suspect. Will the sudoku puzzle provide some clues? So begins Katie’s job of trying to find out what happened to her friend and also dealing with some issues from her past. So if you are a fan of light mysteries and have some spare time this week, spend some time reading this great book and you’ll find yourself waiting for the author to hurry up and write the next book in the series!

I loved this book and am looking forward to the next one -- due out this September. You're right, it's nice and light, and zips along very quickly. BTW, thanks for your blog. It's a great source of reviews. I used to live in Burlington, and often come back to BPL's site for new ideas on what to read, etc. Keep it up!
