My Pick of the Week

Looking for a gentler alternative to Patricia Cornwall or Kathy Reichs? Trace Evidence by debut novelist Elizabeth Becka may just fit the bill. Becka, a real world evidence specialist has created Evelyn James, a forensic trace evidence expert with the Cleveland Medical Examiner’s office. Evelyn is called to investigate the death of a young woman who has drowned, her feet encased in a bucket of cement. Evidence collected from this first case links it to another murder of a young girl from a prominent family. The pressure escalates in the ME’s office and as a result produces a suspenseful read.

Have you read or are you reading this book? I would love to hear your reaction!...The Book Psychic!

I just finished reading Teacher Man by Frank McCourt. It is the third in his trilogy of memoirs starting with Angela's Ashes and continuing with 'Tis. I decided to try it because I enjoyed Angela's Ashes. Teacher Man descibes McCourt's 30 years teaching English in New York City public high schools. I loved the book. There is a great deal of humour in it as well as interesting comments about what makes a good teacher and education in general. It's a very entertaining read!
