Monday's Pick!

Woman In Red is an intricate but sweeping contemporary novel and a tender family portrait about one woman's attempt to undo the harm she has done in the past and try to reconnect with the family she left behind. Alice Kessler has spent 9 years in prison for attempted murder of the drunk driver who killed her eldest son. She returns home to an island near Seattle to try to re-establish her life and the relationships with her youngest son and husband, her sister, family and friends. She meets Colin McGinty, a recovering alcoholic and 9/11 widower. He has returned home due to the death of his grandfather, a famous artist, best known for his “Woman in Red” painting, who happens to be Alice’s grandmother. Fast paced and multi-layered this story by Eileen Goudge carries the reader to the very end.
