My Pick of the Week!

Acts of Nature is a well written thriller by Jonathan King featuring Max Freeman, an ex-cop private eye from earlier novels. Max and his girlfriend, a police detective are in need of some peace and isolation so they take time off to visit his cabin in the Florida Everglades. They find neither.
We are introduced in alternating chapters, and from different points of view, to a trio of thieves who loot houses in broad daylight, and a duo of corporate thugs, hired by the oil industry to solve crises, usually with guns. A hurricane sets in motion a plot in which everyone ends up at a strangely secured cabin fortress deep in the Everglades.
There is a lot of gore, the characters well described and believable and the pace is compelling. This is the ultimate survival story of man against nature, beast and the greatest threat - other men.

did you know that books by Jonathan King are available out of BPL's central library but at none of the branches?
