OBOB Trivia Contest Answers


The OBOB contest is now closed. Here is a list of all the answers to our questions from the past 8 weeks. How did you do?

Week 6: What language does the elephant in Water for Elephants understand?
Polish

Week 7: In the days of the travelling circus, what did it mean to "redlight" someone?
To "redlight" someone meant to throw them off a moving train.

Week 8: What inspired Sara Gruen to write the novel Water for Elephants?
Gruen saw an article in 2003 in the Chicago Tribune about Edward J. Kelty. Kelty was a photgrapher who followed circuses in the 1920s. (Taken from the author's note at the end of the novel.)

It's easy to believe that "Water for elephants" was reviewed at Beans 'n Books in February 2007 as a staff pick! Library staff members often read alot their jobs, and they picked a winner with Gruen's book!
