Several days ago, author Dominick Dunne passed away at the age of 83 after a battle with cancer. After being decorated as a war hero during World War II, Dunne began a career in television as a producer. He did not begin his writing career until he was fifty when he started writing novels, including the well-known The Two Mrs. Grenvilles. In recent years, Dunne was most famous for his investigative journalism, through which he covered some of the most high profile murder trials of our time. Sadly he got his start in this field after the murder of his own daughter, Dominique. After writing a piece on her killer's trial for Vanity Fair, he went on to cover the trials of O.J.Simpson, Claus Von Bulow, the Menendez Brothers, among others. The library has a selection of works, both fiction and non-fiction, by this author. Click on the following link to see what we have on our shelves:

I've seen Mr. Dunne interviewed on various programs over the years, and he always seemed quite knowledgeable regarding criminal law, to the point that I thought he may have been a lawyer in his younger days. It was not until I heard him speak of his daughter's murder that I understood his interest in the criminal mind, in and court proceedings, in general. I find his writing style very accessible and gripping--a well-respected, American crime writer who turned his personal tragedy into a literary passion.
