Non-Fiction Pick of the Week: In Defense of Food
In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto by Michael Pollan 2008
For those of you that enjoyed Jane Goodall’s Harvest of Hope, you will equally enjoy this book. In our western world where 80% of our diet comes from corn, wheat, soy and rice, Pollan’s simple principles: to eat food, mostly plants and not too much are rules to live by. His argument regarding isolating nutrients and not looking at the whole food is compelling. A listing of websites at the end of the book is valuable aid for putting his principles to practice. If you are at all interested about making a change to your diet, I suggest you read this book. I am interested in your thoughts on this title or any of his others and encourage you to post your comments.
