Are you looking for an author who writes like Elmore Leonard? Look no further. Brad Smith, a local area author from Dunnville, writes a humourous story about swindlers that will have you hooked from page 1. All Hat is the story of ex-con Ray Dokes who is looking to start fresh after spending a couple of years in prison for assaulting Sonny Stanton who raped Ray's sister. Sonny Stanton is the local rich boy and thug who is used to getting things his way. Ray trys to lead a normal life by getting a roofing job and steering clear of Stanton but Stanton is involved in some crooked land deals that are hurting Ray's friends. Ray calls on the help of a few close friends to pull off a horse-racing scam that will undermine Sonny Stanton. Ex-lovers, bumbling hired hands, and a tough talking female jockey are all part of the memorable cast of this novel set in rural southern Ontario. I definitely will be picking up another Brad Smith novel!
