The Film CLub by David Gilmour.
This is a memoir by former CBC television film critic, David Gilmour. The Film Club is a true story of a father and a son. In this case, 16 year old Jesse drops out of high school and opts for an unusual home school plan devised by his dad. The rules : watch 3 movies each week with his dad (movies all of his father's choosing), no interruptions, and mandatory discussion during and following each viewing.
This memoir can be enjoyed two ways. It can be read as a guidebook to great movie watching (there is even a movie title index at the back of the book). More importantly though, it is the touching story of a father reaching out to his son and then learning to let him go.
