My Pick of the Week!
The Madonnas of Leningrad is a compelling story by first time novelist Debra Dean. It will appeal to any reader with an interest in art and history. Set during the siege of Leningrad in World War Two, this is the story of Marina, a tour guide at the Hermitage Museum. Her job now is to protect the art from the advancing German troops and nightly bombing raids. The story slips, in alternating chapters, between the war years and present day California as Marina battles Alzheimer's Disease. A poignant story that depicts the famine conditions during the siege and the ravages of Alzheimer's as if you are living it. Throughout it all, art is the beauty and grace that saves the soul while the body and mind are under attack.
I'm looking for some great books to read over the winter. Send me your ideas!

Two books you could take a look at in the Burlington library are Questing Marilyn and Questing France. Questing Home will be out later this year.
I am a Burlington resident and I write non-fiction books on personal growth through travel.
